Customization gives your customers exclusivity, creating a different brand experience. Packaging is something a customer can feel, hold, and see, so it’s something tangible, where its texture, design, colors, directly impact how your customer perceives your brand. We, as human beings, are very visual creatures. We are hardwired to love beautiful visuals. As a result, we naturally get intrigued by pretty and unique packaging. Imagine getting a generic brown subscription box compared to something uniquely designed box that the brand owner has put much thought into, you know which one interests you more.
There’s a growing demand for eco-friendly packaging however, the mainstream market hasn't adapted much to the trend, that’s why there are still very limited eco-friendly packaging options especially here in the Philippines. However, worry no more since in China, being the world’s factory, China has been manufacturing the majority of big companies’ eco-friendly packaging needs, even one of China’s biggest companies, JD, has been promoting eco initiative by example. They now have a reusable packaging option upon checkout wherein after receiving your online packages customers should return the green box to the delivery man. Ultimately, when using sustainable packaging, you are being a responsible business owner, since it’s usually reusable and is very versatile, you can always repurpose it thereby reducing carbon footprint, all in all, making mother earth a better place to live in for the generations to come.
More often than not, we purchase something online or in-store without recycling the packaging that comes with what we bought, usually, we just throw it out without feeling any guilt or without thinking about how we could reuse or recycle it for future use. However, with functional and practical packaging like resealable that have been used a lot in the food and fashion industry, it has given us the best of both worlds, not only it’s recyclable and very functional. We would usually use the resealable from our clothes’ packaging when we travel! It works wonders to keep our luggage organized! So it’s one of the ways, you as a business owner can think outside of the box, to enhance your brand and customer experience without the hefty price tag.
You can opt to hire your graphic designer or you may also opt to design it on your own, depending on your needs. From our experience, it’s better to provide your design than to let China manufacturers design it on your behalf, to lessen the coordination time and costs.
Be transparent and let your China manufacturer know what exactly are your requirements. Materials, quantity, sizes, quality, etc. It’s more than crucial to lay everything out first before proceeding with production since every detail changed no matter how minute it is, it will incur a cost, so to be as efficient and as money and time saving as we can, we want to be extra clear before producing the packaging.
Samples are too important to ignore, you don’t want to be mass-producing your product packaging for 10,000 pieces and end up being disappointed with the outcome. It is always best to communicate with the supplier that you want some samples before letting them manufacture in bulk. One small misstep and your money could be gone. So always be extra careful.
