Been selling online but still get stocks locally? Or are you one of the aspiring entrepreneurs but not sure where to source your products? Or do you want to capitalize on in-demand products but are not sure where you can get a direct supplier?

Get your products directly from China manufacturers/wholesalers! But we know what you are thinking there’s a lot more to the decision than just the upfront investment and cost per unit! Don’t worry let’s break it down on how much your China to Philippines shipping cost will get if you decide to import directly from China! But first let’s discuss why you need freight forwarder when you can just let your Alibaba supplier arrange shipment for you?

I. WHY USE A FREIGHT FORWARDER INSTEAD OF LETTING ALIBABA SUPPLIER TAKE CARE OF INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING TO PHILIPPINES?

       1. Knowledge and expertise

More often than not, Alibaba suppliers are not knowledgeable enough in international shipping since they mostly focus on their main business - product selling. As a result, insufficient knowledge in international shipments might cost you shipment delays, losing business, and unsatisfied clients. With that, by letting your Alibaba supplier take care of your cargoes, you might end up spending more time on your products’ logistics than closing deals!

  1. Filing of taxes and completing all the paperwork

We know how difficult international shipment is, paperworks after paperworks, complicated taxes and duties calculations.Filling out the wrong form, customs holding your cargo for further inspections, too many things can go wrong. But here, at EZ Sourcing, we do all the legwork for you. All taxes and duties filing and all the import documents needed will be provided by us. No need to worry about those, we got you covered. But for Alibaba sellers, it usually depends on the INCOTERMS, incoterms are rules that clarifies the responsibilities of sellers and buyers for the sale of goods in international transactions. Depending on the incoterms discussed with the seller, your responsibility as a buyer also varies. Most often than not, it doesn’t specify what documents you need to provide, or fill out for your cargo to be released by customs. You will personally go to the Bureau of Customs (BOC) to do all these by yourself and to ask what paperworks is missing.

  1. Cost efficient & Hassle-free

As a freight forwarder we achieve economies of scale by consolidating all our clients’ cargos in containers which in turn can lower our shipping expenses and we can pass these cost savings to you. How smooth your importation journey goes depends on how reliable your partner freight forwarder company is. No matter the size of your cargo, we help you ship it safely from China to the Philippines. We provide end to end solutions, double customs clearance, pay for your duties and taxes on your behalf, all paperwork and certificates. Unlike when Alibaba suppliers arrange your international shipment, you as a buyer still need to do your own paperwork. Incorrect or missing paperwork could result in an officer opening your packages to inspect it or possible fines or penalties, which can be a real headache to business owners like you.

II. Different methods of shipping goods from China to PH

1. Via sea

Sea shipment usually takes around 18 to 25 days from China to the Philippines. This is the most common form of transport method for importers and exporters, accounting for 90% of goods transported globally. Since it’s the most cost efficient way to transport goods internationally. Another reason why it's the most commonly used method is because lesser limitations are imposed on sea transport than air transport.

2. Via air

While for air freight, transit time is around 3 to 4 days only. If your deadline doesn’t support sea freight then air freight is the way to go. Get your packages within hours.

III. Calculating your shipping costs (Sea freight)

1. Sea freight shipping calculation (purely weight based)

Some shipping companies charge via cargo’s gross weight, when companies charge via weight they just get the package’s gross weight then times it with their sea freight base rate. As simple as that. While it gets a bit complicated when charged via cbm.

2. Sea freight shipping calculation (volumetric weight)

Sea freight is more commonly charged via volumetric weight or via cubic meter or CBM. It's the freight volume of the shipment for domestic and international freight. CBM measurement is calculated by multiplying the width, height and length. This sounds complicated, but it’s actually not as complicated as you think.

Here’s how to compute your cargos’ CBM:

CBM = Length x Width x Height (CM) / 1,000,000

Example 1:

Commodity: Clothes

Package dimensions: 80cm x90cm x 55cm

Weight: 120kg

CBM calculation: 80cm x90cm x 55cm = 396,000/1,000,000 = 0.396 CBM

Did you got it correctly! I bet you did!

Or you can also use our shipping calculator here.

3. Calculating your shipping costs (Air freight)

Air freight calculation is either via goods’ gross weight (actual weight) or volumetric weight (lxwxh) depending on its packaging dimensions.

So how do I know when my goods will be charged via it’s actual weight or via it’s volumetric weight?

Example 1:

Commodity: Bike

Package dimensions: 50cm x100cm x 25cm

Weight: 10kg

Actual weight formula (just get the gross weight of the good be sure to include the packaging weight as well): 10kg

Volumetric weight: 50cm x 100cm x 25cm/ 6,000 = 20.83 kg

In this case, the volumetric weight is higher, so we will charge you 20.83 kg x air freight rate instead of 10 kg x air freight rate
